New Year’s Gift was first established in 1924.  Early years concentrated mainly on tea cultivation with just 80 ha of coffee. However, due to poor world prices and water shortages for irrigation these were stopped for a while. Today, the estate has a total of around 140 ha. Mean annual temperature is 20.5C, soils include loamy sand, and clay. Rainfall is below average at only 600mm although the surrounding hills receive an average of 1200mm per year. Depending on the season New Years’ Gift offers employment to 500-630 workers. 

We are delighted to see Zimbabwe coffee in again with an AA/AB blend.   Smooth and elegant in plunger/pour over and Chemex. In blends, be careful not to overshadow its characteristics with wilder, bigger flavoured origins.
