About the producer
Ruby
The main coffee is this blend is from Marcelo Assis Nogueira. Marcelo's passion for coffee comes from his father, Joao de Amaro de Assis, a rural worker who grew coffee to support his family. Always at his father’s side growing up, what he learnt was invaluable and the foundation for his career in coffee. In 2001, having graduated in Agriculture, Marcello Marcelo was hired as technical manager by Flavio Marcio Ferreira, a producer in the Region of Sao Gotardo. Over time Flavio recognised the entrepreneurial spirit in Marcello and they began to look for the perfect terroir to focus on speciality coffee. Together, they found Olhos D’water Farm [Water Eyes]. The farm is 1168 MASL with good soils and drainage. Marcello is the producer and general manager of the farm as well as Bioma Café, a company on the sustainable production of specialty coffees.
Coffees from 10 other farms go into the Ruby blend, all in the Minas Gerais area.
