Profile
About the producer
Yirgacheffe Producers
One of the most well known and sought after coffee growing areas in Ethiopia, Yirgacheffe is a small region of Sidama. Coffee is grown in what is known as ‘gardens’ small 1.5 hectare plots that are meticulously looked after by farmers. It’s estimated that over 45,000 farmers grow coffee in the region. Temperatures are typical of cool mountain regions, the soil is volcanic and the area has good rainfall. All of these conditions are ideal for quality/speciality coffee.
Our coffee is sourced for us by our Volcafe Ethiopia team, a specialised team of eight people who travel extensively across all the growing regions prior and post-harvest. This gives us first hand access to solid grades and continuity in terms of quality.
