The Thuita - Kathinthiuku mill is part of the Thuita Farmers’ Cooperative Society which is made up of three mills, Mwirithe, Kathinthiuku and Kiamuriuki. .
The society's first seedlings were gown in 1952 with the Society established in 1954 and formally registered in 1986. Today the Society has a workforce of 13 permanent staff drawing coffee from over 2500 local growers.
