Profile

About the producer

PE Cajamarca Growers

This coffee comes from 18 farms in the Cajamarca region that are part of the Volcafe Way programme. This provides training in good agricultural practices, [GAP] business management and market access.
Volcafe Way also means the farmers are supported with practical technical assistance that usually covers:-
• Building wells for water processing
• Implementation of organic waste systems where coffee pulp is decomposed naturally and used as compost
• Promotion of shade grown coffee practices to protect biodiversity and reduce soil erosion.
• Efficient water use during processing, including water re-cycling
Volcafe Way also promotes gender equality, prohibits child labour and positive social practices for hiring farm workers.
The farms wet process their cherries on site then sun dry the coffee before its taken to a Volcafe mill for final processing.
Cajamarca has an average annual temperature of 23ºC with a rainy season running from January. Rainfall is around 870mm annually.
