About the producer

Volcafe Tanzania

Volcafe in Tanzania [Taylor Winch] operates a number of mills through the coffee growing regions of North, Mbinga, Mbeya. The main processing plant is in Dar es Salaam where final grading, quality analysis and export preparation is carried out.
Sustainability underlies almost every aspect of the operation with a focussed team working with farmers conducting agronomy and coffee quality/processing sessions which are always well attended. A team approach is encouraged by the trainers ensuring where possible the wife and husband attend.
Taylor Winch run three quality labs which allow them to provide a range of qualities throughout the season, from regional blends to microlots. Offers from farmers are cupped, usually over 500 lots to prepare for the regional auctions every week during peak season (August - February typically). The quality team then selects the right coffees and creates blends from estates and what’s known as AMCOS cooperatives. [Agricultural Marketing Cooperative Society]
